Tassie Job 6: Spud Harvester

So the berries are coming to an end and with little time left to make money Brad and I decided to take a job offer on a spud harvester. I wouldn't be able to work at the berries anymore because after cutting 1/2 the staff and forming one day time shift, I would no long have a way to work because Brad would have the car. My friend Nat knew someone who was hiring so here we are, all three of us at another induction ready to start a new job with 2 weeks of my visa left to go. Gotta love this 'A' team though, we travel in threes!
On the spud harvester we sort the good from the bad. Pretty simple, take out dirt, rocks, and rot. I also get the important job of turning on the radio...very exciting! It is pretty neat to be a part of another harvest, it's a bit more entertaining than just sorting because we actually get to ride around on the harvester as it picks the spuds up. Also, important part to the job is to show your group cool shaped spuds, so far we have found Mikey Mouse, mini mice shaped with tails, and hearts. Gotta play charades every now and then to keep yourself busy. The reality is that the perfectly oval shaped potatoes found in grocery stores are very unrealistic to what comes out of the paddock! (P.s. yes, spuds are potatoes in Aus).
