How I Ended Up in Aus
As most of you know, if it were a year ago I would have had no idea I was going to be in Australia today. I would have been snowboarding in powder day dreaming about how many centimeters my friends and I would have dumped on us in the next 24 hrs. Now, here I am in February on one of the finest beaches in Australia with no snow for miles. This reminiscence brings me to how I Ended Up in Aus.
A year and a half ago I decided to leave home in Oshawa, Ontario in hopes to obtain summer work experience elsewhere. Fortunately or unfortunately, think as you wish, I was offered a job out in Lake Louise, Alberta at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on a year contract. It was a difficult decision to make as I would have to post pond schooling which I was expected to return to in the following September. I decided to accept the offer so I packed my bags and headed to beautiful Lake Louise mid July.
I spent the beginning of my journey making friends, hiking, understanding the Fairmont work ethic, and trying to figure out how much alcohol one can consume at that high of altitude (1600m). One short month later I met Brad who is now my boyfriend of a year and a half. Brad happened to be Australian alike to many employees and tourists in the Canadian Rockies.
So here I am today visiting, working, and travelling Australia after a hop, skip and a jump to Nanaimo, British Columbia where I attempted to finish school. Later moved our belongings across Canada back home to Oshawa, Ontario for the Christmas season and to spend time with family and friends. Life is an adventure and I intend to keep it that way.
Cheers to making it count!
