Today Brad, Suellen, and I went out to a lavendar farm about 2 hrs away. Right now is harvest season so the plants are in full bloom, looking like a sea of purple. It really adds to the scenery of the landscape, I had never seen anything like it. We took a free tour where they told us all about harvesting the plant and the process of making it into oil. We also got to see the drying shed where they would make satchels. It takes 250g of lavender flower to make 3L of oil and can be done in 20 mins. This could be why it is so expensive! We all got an ice cream cone lavender themed, one flavour was blueberry/lavender, chocolate/lavender, and just plan lavender which was suprisingly really good. Brad got me a satchel to put near my pillow, supposedly it helps you sleep at night. I will have to test the theory!
On the way home we stopped in Georgetown where we saw our first penguin during day light. So nice to finally get a photo of one you can see.
