Once we started harvesting the chickpeas all I could think of was hummus. Since I came to Aus I have been making my our hummus. For the next few months I will be able to make it with fresh chickpeas right out of the paddock. I learnt something knew when I went to pick the chickpeas, they are actually hard and need to be but in water before becoming soft. I suppose that's why when you buy them in the grocery store they are soaked in water. It was a very lengthy process to pick every pea out of it's pod (2 per pod). Roughly 2 movies later I had enough for my recipe. I probably should have just taken some out of the shed that were already harvested, I had to do it the hard way though!
