Port Arthur is one of the main attraction in Tasmania. This is where over 2,000 British Empire convicts would be sent to prison between the year 1830-1877. At Port Arthur there are more than 30 building from back in the 1800's where the convicts would live and work. The government would use them as free labour out in dockyards, shoe making, coal mines, farming, and others. On an island close by called Point Puer Boys' Prison was the first juvenile convict area. Children would be sent here as young as 9 years old for even playing up in school.
